Funding home care
When selecting a quality home care provider, there are several options to consider. Financial assistance for home care is available if you are unable to self-fund. You may qualify for support from your local council, the NHS, or other resources. Help is out there to ensure you receive the care you need.
Local Authority Funding
Local authority funding is available for home care, with the amount determined by your local council. First, contact your council for a free "needs assessment" to determine the level of care needed. If care is required, a financial "means test" will assess your ability to fund it. Based on this, the council may cover some or all of your care costs, depending on your savings and assets.
Capital: > £23,250 - You pay the full fees
Capital: £14,250 and £23,250 - Council will fund a portion of your care
Capital < £14,250 - The council will pay for all of your care fees or for most of it
